Daniel Hope
His mother worked for Yehudi Menuhin, so he grew up inside the festival Menuhin founded in 1963 — and since November 2025 he has been the man who runs it. Not a newcomer accepting a job; a son coming back to the house.
He built his first season around what one generation hands to the next. He studied with Zakhar Bron and Itzhak Rashkovsky, and joined the Beaux Arts Trio as its youngest member, playing more than four hundred concerts across its final six seasons. He has led the Zurich Chamber Orchestra since 2016 and San Francisco’s New Century Chamber Orchestra since 2018, has been artistic director at the Dresden Frauenkirche since 2019 and president of the Beethoven-Haus Bonn since 2020. He records exclusively for Deutsche Grammophon, writes bestsellers, and plays the 1742 “ex-Lipiński” Guarneri del Gesù.
